Packaging design for English Ale can for the Canadian export market
Brief
St Peter’s Brewery produce a range of award-winning bottled beers and cask ales in their Suffolk based brewery. After securing a deal to sell their beers in Canada last year, they reviewed the category to find that their Canadian audience preferred their beer in cans rather than bottles, so briefed us to design an English Ale can specifically for Canada.
Solution
A contemporary interpretation of the Union Flag was used as a basis for the design to help reinforce the provenance of the beer, being brewed and crafted in the UK. The white can brings on-shelf standout whilst the St Peter’s branding is picked out in gold for a premium feel and a nod towards its heritage.
Results
The cans are an exciting new innovation for St Peter’s Brewery and a commercial strategy to increase sales in their new export territory. The first cases are shipping out early 2018, with the second shipment following shortly after.
