Virtual Artists vs. Real Artists
By Amy 0 Comments
Ever wished you could be in two places at once? Well this is no longer an impossibility for the rich, famous or dead. Holographic 3D projections now allow artists to appear in concert without actually being there.
At the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, Tupac Shakur was 'resurrected' into high definition pixels for a comeback performance. The hologram looks so life-like that it sparked speculation all over again - Did Tupac die?
Holographic projections were also used for a Black Eyed Peas concert in December last year, when two of the band members couldn't make the show. Fans were shocked when the two band members were blown up into a thousand pixelated cubes.
Is this the future for concerts, festivals and musicals? Will we soon go to London and watch The Lion King in holographic projections? Will we pay £50+ on a concert ticket, when the artist isn't really there? Rumour has it Michael Jackson will now tour with the Jackson 5.
